September 23- October 24

Libra children are not simple personalities to develop. They are sympathetic children, both clinging and reserved. They respond to affection shyly, and yet in their inner nature they crave love. They want to respond, but have so much restraint that it is hard for them to relax. The special work of the parent with this type of child is to teach it to unfold.

They have a good mentality, intellectual leanings, and very often-marked artistic talents along the lines of painting, drawing, and music, dancing or acting. But with all these possibilities, they have apathetic dispositions and no energy or personal urge to develop any parts of their capabilities themselves. They are supremely unambitious. The parent must seek out the bent, and very early in the life develop ambition and the ability to get ahead. For without the cultivation of direction in the life, this type of child will grow up frittering away the talents without the stability or the will power to succeed.

As a child approaches the teens, the parents face another problem. These children are so responsive and delicately tuned to physical urges that they are likely to experiment too deeply to discover the sources and results of these sensations that give them so much delight. They are very self indulgent, and place no moral valuation upon sexual experiments. It might be advisable to be clear and open in talking to an adolescent Libra upon the values of the proper time and the place for sex in the life of an adult.

A good deal of responsibility rests with the parents in what kind of a person their Libra children will grow up to be, and while this is true for all children, the Libra child, as can plainly be seen from this characterisation, presents some especially delicate problems.
